Flamingo spectacle at Laguna de Medina

The Medina Lagoon, nestled in the south of Jerez de la Frontera, was my destination for today's birding trip, and it did not disappoint. This was my first chance after the summer to observe the majestic Greater Flamingos at this location, and the sight was truly extraordinary—between two and three thousand of these elegant birds graced the lagoon. Adding to the vibrant scene were hundreds of ducks, including Shovelers and Wigeons.

It was by far the largest flock of Greater Flamingos I have seen at this spot

Braving a cold wind, I spent nearly two hours in the main hide at the southern edge of the lagoon. From this vantage point, the sheer number of birds floating serenely on the water was captivating, each moment a testament to the abundance and beauty of nature.
